On February 28, 2021, the first round of Forum on accurate assessment and clinical application of disturbance of consciousness and key international (regional) cooperative research projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, sponsored by International Institute of plant state and consciousness science of Hangzhou Normal University, was held online and offline at the same time. The online conference is synchronously broadcast by Shenwai information platform, and the number of online viewers has reached 15023 during the live broadcast period. The conference received extensive attention, and online reviews were interactive, especially in the field of neurosurgery.

The clinical management of patients with consciousness disorders is facing great challenges. It is of great scientific and practical significance to explore the mechanism of consciousness and the accurate evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation management of consciousness disorders. This conference focuses on the latest progress and development trend of basic research and clinical diagnosis and treatment in the field of consciousness disorders. Professor Di Haibo, director of International Institute of plant state and consciousness science, Hangzhou Normal University, he Jianghong, chief physician of Beijing Tiantan Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University, and Professor Gao Guoyi, first people's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University, are invited to co chair the conference The participation of many well-known experts in the field of consciousness disorders has brought us a wonderful academic feast.

Professor Adrian Owen, Professor of cognitive neuroscience and imaging, University of Western Ontario, Canada, presented a report entitled "functional neuroimaging in the state of acute brain injury":In the report, Professor Owen analyzed the significance of functional neuroimaging in the prognosis and diagnosis of DOC, and pointed out that the introduction of imaging methods, especially fMRI and fntrs, can determine whether patients still have residual cortical function, which is an important means to detect consciousness and perception, and has important predictive value for patients with doc.

图片

       g. Dr. Christoph guger, founder of Tec, reported on the topic of "brain computer interface research of DOC: from laboratory to clinic":Dr. Guger introduced his team's participation in many international research projects involving brain computer interface, neural regulation, stroke rehabilitation, assessment and communication of patients with consciousness disorders, as well as high-frequency gamma positioning of patients with epilepsy and cancer, and also shared the application of brain computer interface in coma patients.

图片

Dr. Olivia gosseries, CO director of coma science team, Giga consciousness research group, University of Liege, Belgium, reported on the theme "diagnosis and treatment of disturbance of consciousness":In the lecture, Dr. gosseries first introduced the different categories of consciousness disorders in detail, shared his team's experience in patient evaluation, judged the patient's consciousness signs through clinical manifestations, and how to use brain imaging and electrophysiology to diagnose the level of consciousness. At the same time, he introduced specific treatment strategies.

图片

Ms. Qian Li, project management manager of dim3 company, reported on the theme of "the importance of nutrition optimization for DOC patients":She pointed out that nutritional support is very important for the prognosis of patients, especially for comatose patients. At present, the domestic clinical nutrition problems have been ignored for a long time and no one manages them. Dim3 company provides scientific and professional management system and monitoring equipment, which is helpful to optimize the nutrition of patients with consciousness disorders.

图片

Professor Nicholas Schiff, head of cognitive neuromodulation laboratory, Phil Family Institute of brain and mind, Cornell University School of medicine, reports on the theme of "the effect of deep brain stimulation of central thalamus on late functional recovery of patients with structural brain injury":In the report, Professor Schiff explained three specific cases, and introduced how to use central thalamus DBS to realize the recovery of comprehensive brain function in patients with multiple lesions brain injury under the background of mesoscopic circuit model.

图片

Dr. Aurore thibaut, CO director and researcher of coma science team, Giga consciousness research group, University of Liege, Belgium, reported on the theme of "non invasive brain stimulation research in patients with consciousness disorders":Dr. thibaut introduced how non-invasive brain stimulation stimulates the brain to enhance brain plasticity and nerve excitability, and how this technology can really promote the rehabilitation of patients with severe brain injury。

Dr. Oded Meiron, head of electrophysiology and neurocognitive Laboratory of brain clinical research center of Herzog hospital, Israel, director of non-invasive brain stimulation Department of Herzog hospital, and MS. Lior molcho, clinical trial manager of neurosteer company, jointly published a report entitled "Research on tDCS targeting prefrontal lobe combined with single channel EEG monitoring system"They hope to study a new method of intervention for patients with consciousness disorders, and to evaluate the neurological status and recovery of patients through neurosteer EEG.
